History of the Unit - BOIEU Karnataka was initially part of BOISU Chennai. The New Unit BOIEU Karnataka was registered on 30.01.1985, at the Office of Asst Labour Commissioner & Dy Registrar of Trade Unions, Bangalore. The Inaugural Conference of BOIEU Karnataka was held at Hotel Cauvery Continental, Cunningham Road, Bangalore on 30.09.1984. In the 1st Conference Com L Raghavendra Rao was elected as President & Com S B Surendra was elected as General Secretary. Com S B Surendra was the General Secretary until his demise in 1997. After that Com A Venkatappa was elected as General Secretary & continued up to his retirement in Mar 2013. After that Com S Chakrapani was elected as General Secretary & continued up to his retirement in Mar 2018. In 2015 with the able guidance of FOBOISU leadership NCBE Unit of Bank of India in Karnataka merged with BOIEU Karnataka & from then a single Award Staff Union exists in Karnataka till date. In 2015 Karnataka Zone of Bank of India was split into 2 Zones, namely Bengaluru Zone & Hubballi Dharwad Zone. In Mar 2018 Com K C Ramesh was elected as General Secretary & continued up to his retirement in Jul 2023. After that Com Vinod P V was elected as General Secretary. As of now BOIEU Karnataka is the only Registered Trade Union of Award Staff in the entire State of Karnataka covering 2 Zones of Bank of India namely Bengaluru Zone & Hubballi Dharwad Zone. BOIEU Karnataka is one of the vibrant units affiliated to AIBEA through FOBOISU & KPBEF.
