The State Bihar was bifurcated into two separate states namely, Bihar and Jharkhand in 2000. Prior to bifurcation Bank of India Employees' Union, Bihar Unit was comprising the members of united Bihar. Bihar Unit came into existence in 1969 with its Headquarters at Patna. Com TK Guha was the first President and Com TN Dubey was the first General Secretary. With the expansion in the branch network of the Bank, particularly after Bank nationalization, the membership of the union grew numerically. The Union is one of the strongest units of Federation of Bank of India Staff Unions, since the days of Late Com Chitnis to the era of Com Kelawala, Late Com J.S. Bailur to till date. Bihar Unit received due importance in the functioning of the Federation. The Unit was honoured in 2005 in its Federation Conference in Patna by electing Com Rameshwar Prasad as Federation' s General Secretary for one term from Dec., 2005 to Dec., 2009. Com Dinesh-Jha-Lallan, General Secretary of the Federation was very active in Bihar Unit and he was holding the position of President in 1993. In the democratic functioning of the trade union, Bihar Unit was lead by various stalwart leaders, Com Ranjit Singh, Late Com A.K. Sinha, Late Com Robert Moss, Com Rameshwar Prasad under the guidance of Com Sushil Ghosh. Bihar Unit is on the path of Workers Right without any compromise under the guidance of Federation.
