Bank of India Staff Union comprising Saurashtra and Kutch Branches was established in the year 1948 in the name of Bank of India Saurashtra and Kutch Branches Staff Union which is now prominently known as the BOISU Rajkot Unit. BOI S&K Br Staff Union was formed by visionary leaders like JM Vyas, GG Dholakia and others during the period of regional underdevelopment and got its statutory recognition on 8th July, 1951 and on the very same day BOISU Rajkot unit joined the Federation of Bank of India Staff Unions and since its inception focused on job security, welfare, regional growth and overall bank development. It is very significant that the unit grew from 59 members across four branches to major vibrant unit. BOISU Rajkot Unit remembers our notable leaders Com NM Munshi, Com Jyestharam Vyas (Motabhai), Com G.G. Dholakia (Shri Babuji), Com Narendra Munshi (First President), Com AS Ganatra, Com Ramsinh Kaluji,Com DP Vasavada and Com Kirit Oza. Com Kirit Oza played pivotal roles in the unit's progress as a General Secretary from 1980 until his death in 2016. BOISU Rajkot Unit stands in the path of trade union movement to ensure welfare and protection of its members.
