Bank of India Staff Union, Kerala was formed as separate unit after bifurcation from Bank of India Staff Union, Chennai on 26th September, 1979 under the leadership Com KJ Joseph (Joe) who was the Assistant Secretary of AIBEA. BOISU Kerala Unit remembers its stalwart leaders Com KJ Joseph (Honorary President), Com K Gopal (Founder General Secretary), Com T Unnikrishnan (Founder Treasurer) who played significant role while forming the organization. Leaders of BOISU Kerala handled the merger of Parur Central Bank Ltd with Bank of India under the amalgamation scheme by RBI on 20th February, 1990. The issues developed out of amalgamation of Parur Central Bank Ltd were dealt at par without any disparity under the patronage of Federation of Bank of India Staff Unions lead by then leaders Com TS Kelawala and Com JS Bailur. BOISU Kerala unit is one of the vibrant and strong unit of the Federation of Bank of India Staff Unions in implementing any call given by the Federation and also All Kerala Bank Employees Federation and AIBEA. "Rock Like Unity" is the secret of success and effective functioning of the unit since its inception. More youngsters have been incorporated into the leadership which is the very unique movement of Kerala unit. At present more than 95% of the leaders of BOISU Kerala are from the young and new generation. BOISU Kerala always stand shoulder to shoulder with FOBOISU for workers right and dignity.
